Last weekend was all about family — and I’m not complaining! I was excited to head back to Indiana to celebrate our niece, Emily’s, high school graduation. Um, talk about feeling old — it’s been 15 years since I graduated from high school!

I’m not gonna lie, I’m kind of intimidated by 18-year-old girls — I keep thinking about “Mean Girls” and figured none of them would want to talk with the “old person.” Actually, a girl I was good friends in elementary school had a baby when she was 15 and her daughter just graduated from high school — and we are the SAME AGE! What world is this? Insane.

Emily is the sweetest girl and it was awesome to watch her get her diploma and celebrate with her at her graduation party the next day. Let’s just say I had my share of cake (cake/icing mix so it was like eating cake balls — yeah I’m really creative.)

I also got to go visit my Grandma, who is recovering from major surgery in the hospital. We had a big scare — to where we thought we could actually lose her — so it was a relief to give her a big hug and actually talk to her in person.

She said some very sweet things to me that made me remember, once again, how lucky I am to have family that loves me so much. It’s not just my immediate family — but my extended family and I will never take that for granted.

She’s recovering well and we are praying for a full recovery. For now, I’m thankful that surgery went well and hope she has the strength to do what she needs to to get better.

Of course you can see who else is in that pic — my cute nephew Louis, who is almost 5 months old. He is the best baby — so smiley and easy to handle…well, according to my sister. I had a lot of fun playing with him and making him laugh.

I also had some fun with Marshall, who was rambunctious as ever but now that he’s talking more, his cuteness is upped a notch.

We have talked about moving back to Indiana in the near future — and maybe we will do that. Every time I go home, I realize how much life I’m missing — and how much I love my family. Of course it’s been 10 years since I lived in the same state as them, so I wonder — how will it feel? Right now I look so forward to my trips home…but we’re praying that God will give us the right answer and we’ll have peace about whatever we decide.

If you don’t live near your family, do you ever think about moving back?
