lynn

Don’t you love how the Internet keeps us all together? Some may not, but I do — specifically  because I can keep in touch with old friends that I might never have been able to without it. One of those friends is Lynn.

Lynn is one of the most amazing people I know — she’s that self-confident, funny, go-for-your-dreams girl that I always wished I could be more like. So “going for her dreams” that after college, she moved from little old Indiana to big time Los Angeles to pursue an acting career! I’m continually inspired by her perseverance and her talent, as she works hard to get great roles and keep pursuing her acting dreams.

Back in 2005, I as lucky enough to spend some time with her in LA and get to know that scene a bit. It was a blast and though we’ve not seen eachother since, we’ve kept in touch and now I am SO crazy excited to tell you about a project she’s working on!

Cold Tangerines: The Play (Back Story)

Three years ago, Lynn read Shauna Neiquist’s “Cold Tangerines” and was blown away by it. She reached out and got the rights to turn the book into a play. That dream has been playing out since and now it’s time to put everything into motion.

Here’s what they play crew has to say about the project they believe in:

“In the midst of a DO MORE, BE MORE culture, Shauna’s refreshing mressage of seeking the beauty in the everyday and accepting that YOU ARE ENOUGH is the one that I — and audiences — need to hear. Cold Tangerines: The Play is absolutely accessible to anyone, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey, while unapologetically sharing that ‘where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.’ “

Readers of The Sweet Life, ever feel like you are NOT enough? Well, I do and I know this is going to be a powerful message. I hadn’t yet read Cold Tangerines so I literally — just yesterday afternoon — clicked to buy it on my kindle and am now a few chapters in.  Check out this introductory video:

Now that you’ve seen it, what do you think?

You know how important I think it is to help good causes and things you believe in — and I think we need to have variety in our giving — if we can. This is a project that my friend Lynn believes can help change women’s thinking and their lives. She believes in this so much she’s spent the past three years making it happen. Her dedication is inspiring and her belief in it is authentic.

It takes a lot of guts to put this together and to create a Kickstarter to make it happen. I’m going “kick things off” here by making a donation today towards Cold Tangerines: The Play. I hope you’ll consider doing the same if you are able.

You can help spread the word:

Ever wanted to help make someone’s dream come true? Now is your chance. But, seriously, read the book, look into this play.

This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week (more on that later in the week) and more than ever women in this country need to hear, #YouAreEnough!
