I’m always game to try something new, so when the folks at Balance Bar® offered to send me a pack of assorted bars, of course I said yes!

I’m always a little skeptical of any kind of bar because….gluten-free, fat-free, sugar-free, flour-free, etc. — it can turn into taste-free (or worse.) It is the very rare Lara bar that I will actually eat…

Anyhoo, Balance Bars were NOT like this thank goodness.

My analysis:

Mint Chocolate: A great mixture of tastes, a little crunchy and definitely not superficial tasting which was awesome. Almost as good as a regular candy bar to be honest.

Peanut Butter: SO good! This literally tasted like peanut butter fudge and I really liked it.

Blueberry Acai: Loved it…the blueberry flavor was great and I love any kind of yummy vanilla coating like this one had on the bottom.

Double Chocolate Chip: Also very good and tasted like fudge! These bars (the PB) are very soft and easy to eat)

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough: Not exactly the CCCD taste but close to it & really, good enough! If you are hankering for something sweet, this would be a great subsistute for low calories.

Me holding my fav. flavor to cover tired, morning, makeup-less eyes 🙂

All the regular sized bars have about 200 calories, but they also have minis for 100 if you are looking for a bite to gear you up for a workout.

The bars abide by the 40-30-30 principle, which means that 40% of the calories come from carbs, 30% come from protein and 30% come from dietary fat.

Balance Bars actually originated back in 1992. I think the only bar I knew of back then was Power Bar (and I always though those were disgusting though I would guess they’ve gotten tastier flavors these days.) The cool things, they were inspired by athletes and scientists — a perfect mix for finding a healthy combo that works.

So now I’m almost out of them and saw on their website that they have these new gluten-free dark chocolate bars! As you know, I’m a sucker for anything like that! That’ll be my next thing to try!
