I found out this morning that our family dog, Maddie, died last night. She’s been a part of the family for so many years and we are all so sad to hear of the news.

It was unexpected but she was an older animal so, yes, these things happen. But I’m really going to miss opening the back gate to see her wagging tale, telling her “Hi Maddie girl.”

Even Giovanna had started calling her “Maddie girl” and she was just a part of the family. I have not yet owned my “own” dog (aside from that of my family’s) but I can imagine how close you get to a pet.

Additionally, my parents are getting ready to move away from my home town — which is also sad. They are only  moving an hour away — from Bloomington to Indianapolis — but I can’t help but think it will be different coming home now in many ways.

Things change, life happens. We’ll miss you, Maddie.
