I need this sign. But, nobody in DC wears boots unfortunately.

Workout so far: Run 2 miles with Back on My Feet but planning a long run later because I’m off work early today!

Every once in awhile, I get drawn back into my country roots. I grew up in Indiana and I love country music to my core. I love the people, the stories, the authenticity within it.

I used to say my “Oprah’s dream wish” (you know, what you dream Oprah would show up at your door and tell you as a surprise on her show — doesn’t everyone think about that?) — would be a back stage pass to the Country Music Awards where I got to hang out with all the artists while they did jam sessions in their dressing rooms.

I love the old stuff — Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, George Jones, Hank Williams, Jr. — but I also love George Strait (is there anything better in the world than “Amarillo by Morning?!”), Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Montgomery Gentry, the list goes on (No, sorry, I do not like Rascal Flatts!)

Hank Williams, Jr. — old school.

Country is some of the most nostalgic for me. I can hear and be instantly transported back to being a kid running around a field barefoot, playing with my sisters with my Dad’s motorcycle in the driveway, driving to a party in high school or hanging out drinking in somebody’s truck in college. It’s easy to forget I’m 30 years old sometimes. (I can’t believe I am 30 years old…)

The old driveway. Me (with hat), Lindsey, Shelby & Dad.

So I saw this new Justin Moore video today and it got me on the kick. Hope you can appreciate it with me:
