I am by no means a “crafter” but I kept seeing really cute “cookies in a jar” presents online and I thought now would be the perfect time to try for myself.

You just layer all the dry ingredients and include a recipe with the rest necessary for baking and voila!

You see, there are a lot of people in my family/extended family. I’m very close with nearly everyone but I just can’t afford to buy them all presents every year. But I hate coming with only a card, you know?

Thus, I found this awesome canning jars at the store and looked up what it took to put it together. Easy as pie and pretty as heck 🙂

Jar Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • * M & M’s

Filling the Jar:
Layer the ingredients in a quart size canning jar in the order listed. I used a small funnel and it worked pretty good for most of the ingredients! Use enough candy pieces so the jar is full to the top. You can use regular M & M’s (I used the red and green ones) or the mini M & M’s made for baking. Pack down all ingredients, especially the brown sugar!

Print Out the Recipe:
Print out one of the recipe gift tags here and include it with your cookies in a jar gift. You can also design your own!

Now…I am driving home to Indiana tomorrow and I can’t wait! See you there! 🙂
