I don’t really have cankles, it’s just the picture 🙂 |
Oh hello brand spankin’ new marathon running shoes! Even though I just got my most recent shoes at the end of May, I seriously have run them out. They just lost their oomph or something and I knew I needed to get something new for my marathons.
Usually, I spend around $60-70 on running shoes. As a long distance runner, I have to buy them at least twice a year so it adds up. But, I’ve trained hard and well — and for once, I wanted to get the shoes I really wanted. Mizuno is definitely my favorite brand so I shelled out $110 for these.
I also usually avoid bright colors and stick with shoes that will work with any outfit but these just called my name and I love them. I realized that I NEVER get shoes with added stability and support. These have that and so far, so good.
I’ve only run in them twice so far but I have never had trouble blistering in new shoes (thank god) so I plan to wear them for the marathon next weekend.
Since I’ve been taking it easy on the running, my knee and foot seem slightly better but my eight miles today did make them sore. The last 8 miles before marathon time. Now, all I’ve got is a few 2s & and 3s for the week.
I feel confident in a four hour marathon. I really do. I’m going to the store tomorrow to stock up on a week’s worth of awesome food. Friday night, Maggie and I head to Baltimore to stay at the Holiday Inn a mile or so from the starting line!
HOW LONG DO YOU WEAR RUNNING SHOES BEFORE RACING IN THEM? WHAT’S THE MAX YOU WILL SPEND ON A NEW PAIR OF RUNNING SHOES?
I love those blue shoes!I don't worry about breaking running shoes in, but I wouldn't get a new style right before a big race. If I wore new shoes for a big race, they'd just be a new pair of my old style. I swear by my Brooks Ravennas. 🙂
The shoes are awesome! How cool are you to run a marathon! I walk, so I don't wear my shoes down quite like you do. I wear them until they lose their "bounce". Not the same for a long-distance runner, but there you have it!I don't look at them as former walking shoes – so much as future lawn mowing shoes! :o)Have a GREAT week!

I loooooove that blue color!!!I feel like my shoes totally blew out during my disaster of a run yesterday. I'm going to try to grab a new pair before Baltimore Half but I'm a little nervous about it. Granted I always run in Mizunos and never have problems with them so it shouldn't be a problem. So I should probably relax 🙂

Oh I am loving those shoes! I really want stand-out running shoes this next time around. I spent $14 on this pair of shoes at a consignment store (I know that's a no no). I plan on spending much more…when I get the money. I know I need new shoes too! Good luck on this marathon! I found you through Get up and Go! 🙂
I LOVE your new shoes!! The brightness, the colors, they are awesome!! The most I've shelled out for running shoes was for my first pair of "official" running shoes, and only because I bought them FROM the store instead of online.. which I did the 2nd time around for 1/2 the cost.. But, I do think new running shoes make you run faster (all mental there, haha)! I'm in the market for a new pair of running shoes right now, and I want something different, new, and exciting! I would spend a little extra if they were the right pair (or calling out to me)!

So I guess the bright blue color was a win! Thanks everyone. Brooke, I WAS thinking perhaps if I bought online it would be cheaper. Now that I know I love Mizunos best, online is definitely an option. Ann, totally agree on the old shoes front. I definitely look at my old ones to use to get dirty somehow!Carly, maybe I'll see ya in Balt!
Does that new shirt, match your new shoes? I like them!
