At long last! I arrived home from work yesterday to find my NEW couches — straight from the RoomStore. After three months with just a futon in the living room, I was dying to get some couches. I looked at several couches on Craigslist but something about the idea of getting someone’s old couches just didn’t feel right. Plus, everywhere I went it seemed the houses smelled weird or they had dogs. It was getting ridiculous so finally, I settled on the Roomstore. They come with seven piece sets so I got a couch, loveseat, center table, two side tables and two lamps in one package. It looks slick! Of course I got the most “fiscally responsible” (as Rick says) in the store but it still looks great and I’m very happy to finally have my furniture!

I continued my cooking extravaganza (well, that’s a little dramatic.) But…I made Beef & Broccoli Stir Fry, which was pretty good. It was made with a brown sugar coating and I actually couldn’t stop myself from getting a huge helping of seconds.
Beef & Broccoli Stir Fry
# 3 tablespoons cornstarch, divided
# 1/2 cup water, plus
# 2 tablespoons water, divided
# 1 lb boneless round steak
# 1 large green pepper, 1 large red pepper
# 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
# 4 cups broccoli florets
# 1 small onion, cut into wedges
# 1/3 cup soy sauce
# 2 tablespoons brown sugar
# 1 teaspoon ground ginger
# hot cooked rice
We have so been on Breyers kick lately, trying out a new flavor with every trip to the store. Last night, it was Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Surprisingly, I’ve never been a huge fan of that flavor but I still dug in and thought it was pretty good. We decided the Oreo flavor was way better though!
