Thanks for the juicer, Linds! |
I came out pretty well present-wise this year. I got several things I’m still learning how to use, including a food processor, a running watch and a juicer. Actually, I figured out the juicer pretty well this morning — and it’s like magic, seriously.
I went with the simplest “green juice” recipe from Crazy, Sexy, Diet but still couldn’t picture these huge stalks of celery, cumbers, pears and more just whipping into smooth as silk juices. It had to be harder than that.
Nope! The juicer was a bigger contraption than I imagined. But, then again, it IS doing a lot of work in a very efficient way. Lots of moving parts but not nearly as difficult to assemble and disassemble as I thought when first hearing about them in CSD.
Proof I liked it (and I’m highly disappointed I forgot to put make up before doing this so it’s au natural!):
-2 large cucumbers (peeled if not organic)
-big fistful of kale
-big fistful of sweet pea sprouts
-4 – 5 stalks celery
-1 – 2 big broccoli stems
-1 pear or green apple (optional)
-1 inch of ginger (or less)
Other optional greens: romaine, parsley, spinach and dandelion.
So…to top off my green juice breakfast, I had a shot of wheatgrass. I’ve heard this stuff is so incredibly healthy and energizing that I had to buy some last time I hit up GNC. I had forgotten about it until now so I loaded up a scoop and dumped it in 6 oz of water.
Wow…not nearly so good as the juice. This stuff tasted like barf and I actually gagged while in the middle of chug a lugging this big glass. Next time, I’m going to do half OR just add the scoop to my smoothie so I don’t have to realize I’m drinking it.
I stopped in the middle to gag, literally. |
