It was the end of 2014 and we were at church singing the song “Beautiful Things” and God gave me this vision of using that song in a slideshow for a little boy I would have. Of course we were about to start IVF soon thereafter but nothing was certain.

I just heard this song and thought about how God was about to make this beautiful baby and of course I started crying right there in church just thinking about it. And here we are, nearly 2 years later, celebrating the first birthday of our truly beautiful baby boy.

Before we met, Rick and I’s lives were off and wondering in sort of random directions. We didn’t know what was next and especially for him, he was still dealing with a lot of pain from the past. I look at how God brought us together, and how so much in our lives together has been healed, changed, overcome. And how Jacob was really the “garden come up from the ground” for us.

Being Jacob’s mom has been the ultimate privilege and honor of my life. I have taken to it far better than I ever imagined and of course I love him more than any words on paper could describe. He is strong, healthy, able, smart, adorable and all the many things we have prayed for. He is beautiful and He is just what God told me he would be 2 years ago.
