Here we are 5 days after 6 months and I’m finally getting this update up. I have intended to do it all week but busy busy! So much has happened in the past month, so let me get you updated!

Weight: Close to 20 pounds

Sleep: Sleeping has only improved, which is great. We finally transferred Jacob to his crib in his new room at our new house. It was really easy because his room is so close to mine and we leave the doors cracked. I will definitely hear him if he cries PLUS we have a monitor. My sleeping has been much more restful since we moved him because I don’t hear the little movements throughout the night. He still sleeps with the Snuza and in his Magic Sleep Suit (we moved up a size). We rock him to sleep each night around 7pm and he sleeps until 6:30 or 7 the next day. I know how lucky we are!

Eating: Jacob started eating baby food finally this past month (or right at the end of last month). Usually 1-2 meals per day are baby food. I’ve bought mostly organic and try to keep it mostly veggies so he doesn’t like sweet stuff too much starting out. Otherwise, he drinks 25-30 ounces or more of formula each day. He eats quite a bit and is very big for his size but once he starts crawling, things may even out.

Daycare: We started daycare three days a week nearly a month ago at Kindercare. It’s going okay but my heart breaks a little each time I leave him there. It’s the only way I can get my work done and I like the teachers and other kids. He’s usually there 7 hours a day three days a week. It’s going well for the most part. This post talks more in detail about how I am feeling about it all.

Naps: He is a very sporadic napper…2-3 naps per day for 30 minutes to an hour. It’s tough getting him down mid-day but we work with what we’ve got. Stroller runs and car rides help for sure! I’ve stopped trying to be scheduled about it because it’s always so difficult.

Likes: Playing in his jumparoo, kisses from his Pooh Bear (which was mine as a baby!), being raised up to the sky over and over, kisses on the tummy, playing on mommy’s bed with mom & dad, baby spit blowing noises with his mouth, playing with his toes, squealing noises to hear his own voice, rolling back to front, soft blankets being run over his face, laughing & giggling!

Dislikes: Being hungry or tired, baths (still looks terrified every time), being in one place too long, being in a room with us and not being paid full attention to!

Concerns: Not much — he has exczema that pops up here and there but we have a prescription for it. He seems like he might be a little slow on sitting up and crawling, but what do I know? I’m not worried. Once this kid starts crawling, it’s all over for this momma!

Thoughts: He has ramped up the smiles and giggles ten fold this month. It is SO MUCH happy and you can’t be upset when its’ happening. He loves to just lay on the bed with us and kick his legs like a little puppy and laugh and laugh. I’m not sure what makes him do it but it’s awesome. He seems like such a happy guy and I’m thankful for that. He’s starting to grow out of 6 months clothes and eventually we’ll get to the point where we don’t have any hand me downs to use anymore. Thanks to my sisters and Michelle for all the clothes we’ve been using since he was born!

I have taken to being a mom far better than I ever expected. I thoroughly enjoy each moment and to be honest, don’t normally feel overwhelmed or many of the things I was afraid. I know, too, that I have a rather easy baby and that my experience is on it’s own. I fully expect if I have another child that the experience will be very different (which is why I am a little terrified to ever have another child!) That being said, I will just be thankful for what I have and that I am 🙂
