As a blogger, I’m often asked to review products or I sign on to sponsored posts, etc. Therefore, I receive a lot of stuff I wouldn’t normally buy on my own in order to review. Sometimes, it’s hard to know if I would have ever tried it in the first place. I’m a hard sell — I don’t try to new or clever things that often on a whim.

I kept hoping Blue Apron would reach out to me, but they never did. Being unmotivated to try a service I wasn’t sure was worth the money, I forgot about it. Then, one day someone had three free meals available to try (I think Blue Apron offers a week — 3 meals — free to anyone who wants to try actually) – so I said okay. I knew they would “get me” on paying for a full week if I didn’t cancel in time after the free week.

Of course, I forgot to cancel in time! But, long story short, I decided to keep on with the next serving and pay for it because I liked it so much. I’ve now prepared 6 meals through Blue Apron and have been happy with every single one.

Here are four of the meals I’ve made:

I’ve currently got the service on hold due to some traveling but plan to resume it soon. Here’s why I like it:

  • Affordable. It’s not “cheap” but it is $60 for three meals (for two people), that’s only $10/person per meal.
  • Easy. It shows up at your door and everything is pre-portioned & packaged perfectly, ready for use.
  • Directions. The directions are simple and straightforward. You can’t mess this up!
  • Quick. Most meals don’t take more than 20-25 minutes or so — and they all taste great.
  • The Stuff. Half the time, I skimp out on those little ingredients that can really make a recipe taste good (do we really need cilantro?) but with Blue Apron, you never skip the “little” ingredients because they send just the right amount.
  • Delicious. So far, I have enjoyed everything I’ve made, no exceptions!

As someone who doesn’t like to eat the same things all the time, gets bored of tasteless, boring meals and wants to avoid spending money eating out so often, Blue Apron is the perfect solution. Three nights a week is just what I need to fill in those busy nights — or the ones I’m just too lazy to plan anything.

So, there you have it, my unbiased, unsponsored review of Blue Apron, just because I happen to like it so much!
