*I’ve taken almost NO photos lately so apologies for this lame-o one of me working out this week. But cute pants from Fabletics, right?
Oh hello — happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed the great weather and spent lots of time outside! I also saw the worst movie of my entire life — “The D Train” with Jack Black. It was supposed to be a “dark comedy” but it failed miserably and I wasted 2 hours of my life.
It’s been a loooong while since I checked in with my workouts. That’s partially because I had to take time off and I’ve been a little depressed by what I’ve not been able to do. But, it’s NEW day and it’s time for me to get back on the wagon. Let’s focus on what I can do, instead of what I can’t. Here’s the rundown from last week:
Monday: 3-mile jog, lots of stretching
Tuesday: 4.5 mile walk
Wednesday: 25-minute swim, 1- mile walk
Thursday: 2 mile walk
Friday: Gym circuit – treadmill, bike, arm workout
Saturday: Yoga class
Sunday: 4.5 mile walk
PT Update
After spending a few weeks doing very little, it feels good to be back in the fitness game. Unfortunately, what I discovered after my little Monday jog, was that I have a bad case of sciatica flaring up now. While my lower back is a lot better, the sciatica is a new problem. I’m not sure if it’s because I hadn’t run for over a month or if it was an extension of the other back issue — but jogging is back off the table now.
I’m continuing to go to physical therapy — which is partially a chiropractor as well — twice a week and really sticking to my stretching schedule. I’m encouraged that my lower back is no longer in pain, aside from my right hip and now the sciatica. Perhaps a few more months of rest and things will start to feel back to normal. Oh man, patience is hard for someone like me!
Coming Up
This weekend I’m heading to Colorado for the Blend Retreat — which I’m very excited about. Get ready for some Balance Bars, friends!
The next weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, Rick and I may be going to Virginia Beach for a couple of days to celebrate our 2nd anniversary!
Then, I’m off to Indiana the next weekend to visit family and celebrate my niece’s high school graduation!
Hang in there! I feel your pain…. I am recovering from a spinal fusion and after several months of NO activity, I am still limited in the exercise I can do. It’s very hard not to be as active as I’d like to be. It’s really a mental game! Last week I felt so good that I pushed myself at the gym, but paid for it for the next couple of days. I have to remind myself to be patient and take things slowly.
