TurboTax2015*This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and TurboTax, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #TurboTaxACA http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

TurboTax 2015. It’s almost that time. That time when…even those of us who like avoid responsibility have to deal with it. You can put it off like a dentist appointment you’ve been meaning to make for months — or hide behind an excuse. When tax season hits, you’ve got a limited amount of time to get your stuff done and I promise you, it’s much better when you finish before that dooming deadline of April 15th.

This year, many of you are probably dealing with added details due to the Affordable Care Act. But don’t worry. Seriously — don’t. TurboTax knew that was coming, which is why they worked really hard to ensure that customers had exactly what they needed for 2015.

This website is dedicated to helping you understand.

It’s EASY (Trust Me!)

As someone who has used TurboTax for the past five years, I can tell you — these peeps know what they are doing. I’m a small business owner and freelancer with a full-time job, so I’ve got paychecks comin’ in from all over the place. That stresses me out big time, but thankfully TurboTax has been my best friend every single year to help me through it.

I’m just gonna say it — don’t waste a bunch of precious cash somewhere that could really do some damage to your wallet!

The best part of tax season? Most of us will get a sweet refund that we can reward ourselves with for getting through…tax season 🙂

Did the ACA affect you? Answer: Yes

The ACA requires that all Americans have health insurance coverage for 2014 — or pay a penalty in taxes. That means, this year you’ll need to report your insurance stats on your tax return. Don’t worry — it’s easy. For most people you’ll just check a box.  Here are the three categories you may fall into:

  • Did you get health insurance from you workplace? Watch this:

  •  Did you purchase insurance from a state or federal marketplace? Watch this:

  •  Were you uninsured — or do you think you qualify for an exemption? Watch this:

The Skinny

This coming weekend is important – health insurance open enrollment ends on Sunday, February 15. This is the last chance you’ll have to purchase insurance to avoid a penalty on your taxes next year. You can check out TurboTaxHealth.com to learn more about your health insurance and taxes, including finding out if you’re exempt from the tax penalty.  While you’re at it, don’t forget to go to TurboTax.com to file today for absolutely free before February 16 if you have a simple return (1040A/EZ).
