As a busy professional, getting to the gym has to be a conscious priority — which means advance planning. I don’t know about you, but I need to know what I’m doing in the morning (or after work) before I go to bed the night before — or I’m totally frazzled when I wake up. I find it’s best to bring really versatile items because I never know what I’ll be up for after work. If I’m not heading to CrossFit, I may go for a run, do my own circuit workout, the elliptical or hit up a fun class like barre or Zumba.


Being flexible is also the key — and the beauty — to make sure you actually get your workout in. Be open to trying new things, with new people because doing the same thing over and over is sure to result in a rut. Not only that, by trying new fitness activities, you meet new people and learn things about exercise or your body you hadn’t known before. I remember when I first went to yoga, I thought — I didn’t know that muscle was there to stretch! It made me realize how many places on my body I was neglecting.


Most importantly, make sure you have the essential items you need so you can focus on the experience without needlessly worrying about personal details.
