Bragging Rights: My Sister is a Cover Model!

I should have gotten this up on the blog last week but if you are following me on Twitter or Instagram, you’ve definitely already seen it — and hopefully purchased a copy! Thanks to so many of you who voted for my sister to be the Women’s Running cover model this month. We were so excited when she made it and it’s finally a reality! As you’ll note in the story, she is actually about 13 weeks pregnant when she had these photos taken (not that you can tell!) but I’m very excited for a new niece or nephew coming in January as well!

Going with My Gut

I’ve been fortunate to attend multiple blogger conferences over the past three years. I didn’t even know they were a “thing” before I started blogging but through them it’s been a true joy to meet new women who share my passions and interests. I’ve also bee very lucky to have sponsors to most of the conferences — where I represented Mizuno or Balance Bar. It’s such a privilege to represent these companies and also makes it possible for me to actually go, since plane tickets and hotel rooms and all that add up!

refresh

When I saw the Refresh Summit, being put on by my blogger friends Bobbi and Lindsay, it looked like a lot of fun. But it wasn’t within driving distance and I didn’t want to obtain a sponsor this time around. The more I thought about it, the more I felt my gut telling me I should go. It’s been so long since I went on a weekend away that had anything to do with my faith. I remember when I was younger going on youth retreats and the like but as an adult, it’s fallen by the wayside. The description for the trip drew me in:

The Refresh Summit is a time to get away with friends old and new, to be inspired to live a life rooted in Christ and to find a healthy balance of fitness and faith! If you are looking for some motivation and accountability, time of pure refreshment, and just plain old fun and laughter, then please join us.

Blogging, fitness and God? Bring on the trifecta — this had to be for me! I felt guilty about spending the money but the more I thought about it, I just felt like I should go. And so, I’ll be heading to Tennessee on November 14th! Lindsay has some more details here. Let me know if you are going 😉

A Bit More Bragging

Yesterday, one of the cooler things at my job happened. I got to host a lunch briefing with Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana — also a possible 2016 Presidential candidate! He was super friendly and seemed very genuine. I was nervous to host because he’s a big name but he made it very easy and luckily, someone snapped this photo of us shaking hands before the lunch began. Sometimes I do get sick of working in politics but living in DC has always  brought some pretty cool opportunities!

Otherwise, yesterday it was back to the grindstone after coming home from Arizona — which was so great! This week, I’m getting my nose in my NASM studying materials, kicking butt at CrossFit and catching up with work. Life is busy busy busy but that’s the way I like it!

Do you have any bragging rights at the moment? Have you been to any blogger conferences or other types of conferences? What were they? Who is the most famous person you have ever met?
