Pssst. It’s the LAST day to vote for my sister, Lindsey H. in the Women’s Running Cover Model Contest! Please go vote now! (She is Marshall’s mom!)

This weekend was spent in Indiana visiting my family — specifically for my nephew Marshall who turned two years old. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen his cute face pop up a few times over the past week. How could I resist?

I hate that my nieces and nephews grow up far away from me. We Skype and my sisters show them my photo but it’s not the same as being there with them. That’s why I took an surprise trip on the fly without telling my sister. I showed up at her door and surprised her! It was fun 🙂

Luckily, I got to spend some quality one-on-one time with the Marsh-man. Now that he’s two, he can communicate a little and 2 is such a fun age. They are just discovering so much and run around like crazy. I’ve said before I never feel extremely connected to kids but when it comes to these kids, it’s completely different. I love him so much!

We got to run around and explore the backyard, discover what was hidden behind the garage, making bee sounds, name all the colors (though he thinks everything is “geen.”) I love picking him up and swirling him around so he laughs and smiles so much and says “again!”

I swear I’ll do anything to make a 2-year-old smile! He’s all boy, jumping off the stair ledge, chasing balloons, clobbering the dog. He thinks he’s King of World right now — commanding everyone “No talk!” or “No touch!” if we do something he doesn’t like.

He spent hours playing with his birthday balloons and plenty of time eating like a wild animal (yogurt everywhere!) but I loved watching him and knowing how much more grown he is every time I see him. Thankfully, I’ll be back in just a month but it had been six months since the last time so this was extra sweet.

Kids make the world seem better, brighter and full of hope. I am thankful for the ones that I’m so lucky to have in my life.
