dresssss

One year ago today, I stood on a Jamaican beach at 4pm and married the love of my life. The moment I dreamed of — not the wedding or the dress — but the person and the commitment,  finally became real and it was the best day of my life.

I walked down the sandy aisle to Elvis Presley, wearing my non-traditional wedding dress and bridesmaid shoes leftover from Britney’s wedding. It was hot and a little windy and our witnesses were two Jamaican staffers from Sandals (the sweetest ever!) who snapped photos with my iphone.

The pastor was an old Jamaican preacher who spent an hour with Rick waiting for me to be ready. He was a prayer answered that we didn’t even realize we had prayed for. Full of wisdom and encouragement, I was so glad he spent time with Rick before the ceremony.

How do you sum of the day you’ve been waiting for your entire life? When it finally arrives, it’s not the “day” at all — it’s the miracle that you’ve found this person that wants to be with you for the rest of your life. When you think about it, it’s a little crazy — and I’m so grateful I found that person in Rick.

It was a day, a moment, a marriage blessed by God, honest and full of joy. I felt God’s presence with us as we said our vows and it was profound to know we were going forward with Him.

I can honestly say that I feel everyday like the most loved woman in the world — and I try to never take that love for granted. I know what it feels like to experience the joy and pain of another person’s heart — because his heart is my heart — so his heartbreak is mine and his joy is mine.

Cheesy to say but every time I hear “All of  Me” by John Legend, I start to tear up because I know he’s singing about his wife and I really feel those things. So I guess I will end this that simply…

All of me loves all of you, my love.
