Screen Shot 2014-04-27 at 4.20.50 PMSo last week was one heck of a week in terms of fitness  — and it terms of some crazy work hours. I barely had time to breathe, hence the lack of normal posting! On thing I did was hit up the USA Science & Engineering Festival in downtown DC so I could see my friend Kristyn, who works at NASA (so cool!).

I also saw Danica McKeller (remember Winnie Cooper from “The Wonder Years?”), who has made a name for herself in the math and science community with her book, “Math Doesn’t Suck.”

This festival was actually really cool and I love how excited all the kids were to learn about science. I’ve never been a math or science person but we certainly need to inspire the future that direction.

This week is another crazy busy one but I definitely wanted to check in with you guys! I’m sitting in my hotel room in Chicago right now, where I’m at for the Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA) conference.

I’m pumped about learning some awesome new marketing stuff this week — they’ve got fool panels like this one, called “How I Met Your Fans and Followers: Micro-Campaigns as Causeways to Social Communities.”

CrossFit

I’m back with a vengeance! I went back for the first time on Thursday — a great workout to ease back in: burpees, running and lunges. Saturday I went back — always a doozy on the weekend! It’s clear I’m not used to this stuff and my body is sore in places I never really felt before — but of course I love it.

If you are new around here, I go to a fantastic box in the area, Trident CrossFit. The community is warm and welcoming, the coaches are awesome and personally invested. I feel so lucky I happened to stumble upon them 2 years ago. If you are in Alexandria/Arlington, check it! 🙂

It seemed like everyone is still there — the old box still together again 🙂 It was nice to be recognized and welcomed back! I still haven’t hit the barbell yet but I’m anticipating it — I love it but it will be very light for me for sometime. But I’ll finally get a chance to wear these beautiful shoes that have been waiting for me the whole time!:

Running

I’ve also been running — managed to get in 10 miles before my flight yesterday morning. I was in the worst mood when I woke up and I knew just what would cure me of that. Didn’t really want to run 10 miles but I need to know I can get my mileage back up mentally so I did it. It’s been SO pretty out — I even spotted these lovelies:

I actually ran into the Nike Women’s Half-Marathon that was going on in DC — jealous I wasn’t in with the crowds. But, at least I wasn’t paying $250 for my run like all of those ladies were!

So 10 miles was hard but partly because my calves were a mess from doing double unders on Saturday. My splits were really slow but whatever, I will have to build back up. I have the ZOOMA Annapolis Half-Marathon in one month!

Anyone else feeling the spring fitness bug like I am? It’s so great!
