So I thought it would be a good idea to make a calzone. Never tried it and I’ve made pizza so much that I really needed a switch up. For whatever reason, the ‘zone fell kinda flat on me. It wasn’t the fluffy brimming, golden slab of bread I imagined. Luckily, looks don’t affect taste 🙂

It’s super easy and super tasty. Rick and I split this and half was plenty for me. If you think about — eating half means you are eating half the pizza (which, granted, isn’t that much because homemade pizzas tend to be small.)

Anyway, make it if you want something easy & a little different. Plus, if you tell people you made calzones for dinner, you’ll sound really fancy.

Homemade Pepperoni Calzones

Step 1: Roll out frozen pizza dough.

Step 2: Spread 1/2 can tomato sauce down the middle, leaving several inches out on each side.

Step 3: Cut the sides (up to sauce) into strips (see example below)

Step 4: Add your cheese & peppeoroni (or other fun toppings!)

Step 5: Crisscross your dough.

Step 6: Bake in the oven on 350 for 20 minutes or until golden (keep an eye on it!)

*Tip: I cut my strips too thin. Make them a bit thicker. Also, maybe add more ingredients to make it puff up a little more. Mine was pretty light on the toppings.
