Since moving to the Del Ray area in Alexandria, I’d been wanting to try “Cheesetique”, a cute little wine and cheese bar about a mile down the road. When it was Michelle’s turn to visit me, I KNEW this was the perfect night to go. Michelle loves cheese more than anyone I know and in fact, turned ME onto GOOD cheeses. Before I met her, my favorite cheese was sliced provolone in a Sargento bag.
It was a perfectly humid night and we got a table outside (but waited for 30 minutes to get it!), which I love. The place was even cuter than I thought because they had live music inside the restaurant. Plus, it includes a specialty cheese shop with special cheese tools, books and an entire cabinet of glorious cheeses to choose from.
While the adult grilled cheeses sounded FABULOUS (Um, hello “Sweet and Savory” which was Havarti cheese, raspberry jam, walnuts and scallions) — we both opted for the five-cheese plate and a few delicious sides like honey, tangerine jam and brushetta. Two half price glasses of wine, my cheese plate and a good friend made from an awesome evening. I can’t wait to go back to Cheesetique to try a grilled cheese, a new wine and maybe take home a block of something new!
And how awesome was this? Semi-sweet chocolate chips in a little cup with our bill! Way better than those disgusting red and white mints everywhere else!
Yummmmmmm 🙂 I really want to go back.
