“Thank you LÄRABAR for sponsoring today’s post and helping me to get outside!”
Hi everyone! Yes, I DID run the Marine Corps Marathon yesterday — and a recap will be coming tomorrow. Promise! In the meantime, feel free to check out a couple of photos I posted on Instagram!
Until last year, I didn’t really think much about hiking or trails. I had always been one for city walking or running — trails were a bit foreign.
But things have changed, as you can see above. I’ve begun to LOVE the trails and realized how much more of a rich experience you can get from hiking and running on trails. Just two weeks ago, I ran a trail half-marathon and had a blast!
I really discovered how much I love it, though, when I went to Sedona, Arizona recently. Sedona is literally the most gorgeous place you can go hiking in maybe the world. There are a million trails — easy and hard — and for those who are prone to getting lost (me!), you have to prepared with food and water. Maybe for 2 days — who knows?! Not really but you know…!
What makes trail running and hiking different? Scenery for one — but another big factor is time. You don’t go out for a 30-minute hike. You got out for half a day or more. That means going prepared with plenty of water (thank you Camelbak!) and food.
One of my favorites to bring for energy is LÄRABAR. It’s not just about calories — it’s the quality of the calories. Nice to have them taste good too!
I discovered LÄRABAR several years ago, as I got associated with the fitness community online and realized how much people liked them. They’ve become a staple for me because they never ever ever upset my stomach. I can be sensitive and that’s the last thing you want to deal with on a long hike or run.
LÄRABAR are gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan. I’m not sure how it’s possible to make something so delicious without including these things but it can be done! I was so glad to receive a stash of refills last week, including the new RENOLA granola.
Rick and I took a little hike on the trails near our house this weekend and I, of course, stocked up with some of these snacks.
I don’t know about you but ending up hungry on a hike is one of my worst fears — seriously. I have visions of 127 hours and being lost without food. With me, anything could happen. A compass would do be not good. Honestly, it might as well be a block of wood.
So…I always have lots of extra — just in case 🙂 The RENOLA granola was really good — and a great amount for a quick snack. My favorite was the cinnamon flavored (looooove cinnamon!)
In case you didn’t know, November 17th is National Take a Hike Day. So…don’t wait around — plan a fun hike on a nearby trail and grab some LÄRABAR to take with you!

LOVE the Carrot Cake and PB&J Lara Bars! Also excited to try the Cocoa Coconut Renola bar since it’s hard to go wrong with a combo like that. 🙂 I usually like to steer clear from super processed food, so I’m glad to see the gluten-free option from them!
I love love love Lara Bars. The cookie dough one is my fav. You look GORGEOUS in that last photo by the way.
I’d want to try Coconut Chocolate Larabar and Cocoa Coconut Renola. Noticing a theme? 😉
I am sugar free so Cherry Pie Larabars are a staple for me, in life and in training! We are always trying new #eatclean snacks for my kids and they are going to LOVE the Renola flavors. I see Swim Kid loving the Cinnamon Nut! I’m a trail runner and am never without a Larabar. They have helped get me through some long runs when I need some food!
Love larabars! My favorite is the pb cookie dough but I’ve always wanted to try the snickerdoodle (so hard to find) – Renola is awesome and I’m surprised there aren’t more products like it.
I love larabars!!! I have not tried the pumpkin pie bar yet and would love to try that. I would love to try the cinnamon renola bar as well. I am gluten free and dairy free cuz my body gives me no other choice.
My favorite larabar flavor is banana bread – but I rarely find it in the stores where I buy larabars. I don’t NEED gluten free products, but I’d love to try the cinnamon renola as I’m sure it’s delicious! My family and I love to get outside on family walks – especially now where it’s fall! We all love larabar’s so we’re constantly buying them.

I really like the blueberry muffin and PB&J flavors of Larabars, but would love to try some others! I haven’t tried Renola yet, but have heard great things!
I love Larabars and I would love to try snickerdoodle and pumpkin pie. I would love to try the cinnamon renola because I typically don’t like gluten free products, but this one looks great! I love to hike and run, especially in the fall, and I love to bring Larabars along because they are so easy to carry and healthy.
I would love to try the peanut butter lara bar and the cinnamon renola! I usually try to stay away from gluten because of the way it makes my body feel bloated
I’d love the Chocolate Chip Cherry Tort Larabar and the Cocoa Coconut Renola!
I really want to try the Chocolate Coconut Larabar and the Cocoa Coconut Renola. I’m not as interested in trying Renola because it’s gluten-fee as much as I’m excited about it because it comes pre-portioned. Granola is a food I can eat a whole bag of easily so having it portioned out is helpful!
Caitlin — my first winner never responded so…you WIN! Email me at ericka.andersen@gmail.com to claim it ASAP! 😉
I would love to try Coconut Cream Pie Larabar and Cinnamon Nut Renola! Hiking is definitely the best. It’s one of the most refreshing feelings. You have really inspired me to check out a trail half marathon! It seems so fun!
