Marathon Countdown: 7 days Left!

Oh hello brand spankin’ new marathon running shoes! Even though I just got my most recent shoes at the end of May, I seriously have run them out. They just lost their oomph or something and I knew I needed to get something new for my marathons.

Usually, I spend around $60-70 on running shoes. As a long distance runner, I have to buy them at least twice a year so it adds up. But, I’ve trained hard and well — and for once, I wanted to get the shoes I really wanted. Mizuno is definitely my favorite brand so I shelled out $110 for these.

I also usually avoid bright colors and stick with shoes that will work with any outfit but these just called my name and I love them. I realized that I NEVER get shoes with added stability and support. These have that and so far, so good.

I’ve only run in them twice so far but I have never had trouble blistering in new shoes (thank god) so I plan to wear them for the marathon next weekend.

Since I’ve been taking it easy on the running, my knee and foot seem slightly better but my eight miles today did make them sore. The last 8 miles before marathon time. Now, all I’ve got is a few 2s & and 3s for the week.

I feel confident in a four hour marathon. I really do. I’m going to the store tomorrow to stock up on a week’s worth of awesome food. Friday night, Maggie and I head to Baltimore to stay at the Holiday Inn a mile or so from the starting line!
