8 Months Later: Pre-Baby Body Back

July 13, 2016 by Ericka

Before I Had a Clue Before I had a baby, I had no concept of what "baby weight" really meant. All I could think of was that women gained a ton of weight that was really hard to shed afterward. I imagined myself getting rather large and having a tough time losing it afterward. I had visions of people who still talked about "losing the baby weight" a year or two after the baby was born. I figured I would be the same way. Then, I was pregnant. I was conscience of weight gain -- and obviously wanted to gain a healthy amount -- but realized how easy it is for people to throw caution to the wind with eating and exercise while pregnant. For some, it can be an excuse to overindulge and stop exercising. Let me say this: I'm all for whatever … [Read more...]

Baby Weight: I Didn’t Know It Was So Hard to Lose One Pound

January 29, 2016 by Ericka

Let me preface this by saying the baby weight thing is NOT a big deal in my life...but it is something that's been on my mind. I gained a little over 30 pounds during pregnancy, then swiftly lost about 15 pounds of it right after giving birth 10 weeks ago. Since then, I've...gained two pounds and remain at a standstill. Pre-baby: 145 pounds 9 months pregnant: 176 pounds Post-delivery: 158 pounds 10 weeks post-delivery: 159 pounds If nothing else, I'm surprised. I know it hasn't been that long but, I've been back to working regularly for well over a month and not even a little budge? Thankfully, I had no trouble getting back into exercise and honestly...don't even feel like I lost that much fitness! Considering I ran a mile … [Read more...]

Family & Newborn Photos 2015

December 11, 2015 by Ericka

**First of all, thanks to everyone who has reached out with advice and encouragement after my post about my struggles with breastfeeding. It's been extremely helpful and reassuring. We are on a path now that I feel better about and will fill you in soon! I'm so glad I decided to schedule professional photographs shortly after Jacob's birth. Originally, of course, we were scheduled for the second week of December or so. Well, we sure had to move that one up! These photos were taken by Rhiannon Loyd Photography when Jacob was 11 days old, in our home. She was great so if you are in the Indianapolis area, check her out! I am happy with the results and thankful we didn't look as tired as we felt! I had no idea what to wear but thought … [Read more...]

Why Saving Money For Fertility Treatments Instead of Taking Out a Loan Was the Best Decision

December 10, 2015 by Ericka

*When You Can't Get Pregnant *My IVF Experience It's hard to believe that one year ago at this time, Jacob didn't exist yet. He existed in our hearts and hopes, but not physically. We knew we would start fertility treatments in January. It was supposed to be December but our clinic didn't start new treatments in December so we had to wait an extra month. By the time I had taken the drugs and gone through all the steps, it was mid-March when we finally got to have our "try." Truth be told, when we first sought out fertility treatments, it was in November of 2013. That was our first appointment to discuss our options at Dominion Fertility. Had it been solely up to me, I would have taken out a massive loan and moved forward immediately. … [Read more...]
