What I Learned Today From Geneen Roth

January 4, 2018 by Ericka Leave a Comment

I was listening to Geneen Roth on the Oprah podcast today and she said something that really clicked with me -- or should I say, I had an "aha moment"? If you don't know, Roth is an expert on emotional eating and women's relationship with food. She noted that every time we want to run to food for comfort or when we aren't hungry or whatever is an opportunity to dig deep and figure out who we really are and that the problem really is. Not a novel thought, but one to really hold onto if you are battling a vice. If we give into emotional eating, we glaze over the emotional turmoil, bury it and never overcome it. But really, whenever we experience that discomfort that pushes us toward food (or whatever the vice may be), we should look … [Read more...]

6 Protein Powder Desserts to Die For (and Make Now!)

July 12, 2017 by Ericka Leave a Comment

*This post is sponsored by Premier Protein I know what you're thinking. That doesn't sound healthy to me! I think healthy is all relative. But you can actually make cupcakes with protein powder -- among all kinds of other yummy desserts! It's actually kinda crazy all the amazing recipes out there, all of which I want to try. Most of the time, people buy huge tubs of protein powder, like the massive ones from Premier Protein I have stocked in my kitchen. So the question is -- how can you use it all in a creative way? Sure, you can just drink it straight up with water, but why not turn it into some other fun stuff too? You can top your protein powder cupcakes with sugar-free frosting to help ya out on the sugar side. They make … [Read more...]

How I Accidentally Lost 5 Pounds

May 15, 2017 by Ericka

I was fortunate enough to be able to chat with Dr. Rob Wildman, the Chief Science Officer, at Premier Protein this week. Our conversation reminded me of how I recently lost five pounds -- by accident. Check out the interview above for the reasons why protein can help you feel better and lose weight. My also tell the story about losing weight in the interview, but here's the full story below. My Grandma has a tendency to always tell me I look like I've lost weight when I see her. I usually say, "thanks Grandma" because she means it as a compliment, but recently I weighed myself and realized she was right. What? So I've weighed about the same weight (except for pregnancy) for the past 7-8 years. My lifestyle has stayed pretty much the … [Read more...]

Premier Protein for CrossFitters!

April 23, 2017 by Ericka

*This post is sponsored by Premier Protein I've had so much fun being an ambassador for Premier Protein this year -- not to mention gobbling up every bar they sent me and almost drink all the powder and smoothies too. Gonna have to restock soon! So when I got the opportunity to showcase the brand to my CrossFit gym, Three Kings.  I was excited. It's helped me with performance and nutrition so of course I wanted to let others know about it. I usually hit up the 10am weekday class. Working from home has it's perks! Lots of moms and other other people that work from home too -- or folks that have jobs with strange hours like nurses, doctors, cops or firefighters. We always have a decent crowd and everyone was pretty excited to … [Read more...]
