Since becoming pregnant, my activity levels have shifted dramatically. Readers know that my back went out on me even before that, which meant having to quit some of my favorite activities – running and CrossFit.
But, you know me, that does NOT mean I’m willing to sit back and let my body go to crap or start collecting extra calories like a paycheck.
For the first time in my life, I understood what it meant to need to move more often in regular everyday activity. I realized how parking further away, taking stairs and just “playing” could contribute significantly to keeping my body in shape.
I’ve recently been using the Garmin vívofit 2 activity tracker – and loving it! I have become kind of obsessed with checking out my mileage throughout the day – and realizing how easy it is to reach my goals. In fact, just walking through Wal-Mart, I noticed, racked me up nearly .75 miles in a short trip. I was astonished at how quickly you can get your miles in without even realizing it.
When I took a walk, it was actually easier for me to get myself to go further because I knew those little numbers would be ticking up. You start to set goals without even realizing it!
Once I started wearing the vívofit 2, I barely noticed it on my wrist, which is perfect. Here are some other things that make it awesome:
- A 1+ year battery life (no charging to worry about!)
- Reminders to stay active with a move bar & audible alert
- Learns activity level & proposes a personalized daily goal
- Shows steps, calories, distance and time of day on backlit display
- Automatically syncs to Garmin Connect™ to save, plan and share progress
The thing is, I know how important this is going to be for me when I have the baby. I’m not sure what to expect for getting back in shape, but I do know progress will be slow and I will need this kind of goal tracking to help me feel like I’m on track.
I finally see why people have been loving the vívofit 2 – and why activity trackers truly are the way to go in the life of very busy people!
I’m already looking forward to setting goals and feeling great when baby is here!
