*After seeing myself in photos in these shorts, I’m convinced they look like old lady shorts on me. I bought this outfit after seeing the full thing on a model on TheLimited.com — but clearly my legs are not as long and lovely as the models. Not sure how to proceed. Okay, carrying on…

The perfect weather weekend — thank goodness! We spent some time at National Harbor on Saturday. Though it was kind of rainy, it was perfect because not a lot of people were there.

National Harbor (a scenic, fun place to go just a few miles away in Oxen Hill, MD) has grown since I was last there. There are a lot more stores and restaurants — I can see them doing much more with this area as well. Love that it’s less than 15 minutes from my house!

I wish I had brought my nice camera, as these photos may have looked a lot better — but I did with what I could. I love walking around to the little shops and picking up knick knacks. This weekend I bought some homemade strawberry jelly — always a sucker for that stuff. I also found a handmade Christmas present for my Dad — it’s going to be really hard to wait that long but I thought it was the perfect gift for him so I had to buy it.

We also found some other interesting items, including these:

Video evidence that they were eaten:

Yes, I ate one too — swear! They tasted just like really stale crackers or something. However, the antenna things really stuck to your throat and that was disgusting. But hey, when you see something like this, sometimes you just have to go for it. Reminds me the time I had part of a grasshopper taco at Oyamel in DC.

Before we get to workouts for the week, I wanted to let ya’ll know that I’m now doing a bi-weekly newsletter and I hope you’ll consider signing up (sign ups towards the top of this page!).

Why a newsletter in addition to the blog? There are a few things I want to share with readers who really like The Sweet Life — things that don’t really fit on the blog, as well as special offers and messages I sometimes receive through companies and brands that get in touch. Anyway, it’s fun so join if you are into that kind of thing 😉
