I’m so excited — why? Because I get to go to Crossfit 5 days this week! I really enjoy going as many days as possible because each day is so different. Even when I think I’m going to hate the WOD, there’s always something I end up liking.

Today’s WOD:

Strength:  Front Squat @ 6, 4, 4 (75, 80, 85%)
For time:
21, 18, 15, 12, 9 – Pullups
15, 12, 9, 6, 3 – HSPUs (hand stand push ups)

What I learned today: I really need to step it up on the weight with the front squats. I’m always kind of wimpy about it and I know I’m stronger than that.

I’m very close to a kipping pull up. Once I get the motion correct, I’ll knock those things out no problem and you can be sure I’m going to get video of this miracle. You’re talking to the girl who has never done a pull up in her life. Just wait!

I tried doing a real hand stand push up but could only go down like half an inch so I switched to assisted with the box. Those things give you a great arm workout and I felt just a teensy bit buffer when I was done.

Here’s  Monday’s WOD (killlllller):

Complete 3 rounds for reps of:
Double-unders in 60 seconds
Rest 30 seconds
Wallballs (20/24) in 60 seconds
Rest 30 seconds
Slamballs (25/15) in 60 seconds
Rest 30 seconds
Row in 60 seconds
Rest 30 seconds
TTBs in 60 seconds
Rest 30 seconds
Burpees in 60 seconds
Rest 30 seconds

I was actually super pumped to go last night to Crossfit (I went last night and this morning) because I spent most of the day perusing videos from the games this weekend. In that, I ran into this great video that describes the sport well and gets up close and personal with the athletes:

My friend and Crossfit extraordinaire Brooke had it up on Facebook. She’s really inspiring to me — heck, she WON a local competition (women’s champion in the Mighty Murph Challenge). Here she is:

I sometimes hear negative talk about Crossfit. Some say it’s “just a fad” or that they go about things the wrong way. My boyfriend says there’s too much variety, not enough repetition of the same moves. My sister’s husband says it can be dangerous combined with running training — and others  think it’s totally a bandwagon thing.

Who knows — it IS the hot thing right now but something that keeps me coming back day after day is a-okay in my book. Every day is a new challenge. There’s something about short-term challenges that offer a different thrill than long term ones like marathons.

Source.

That actually went through my mind when I was doing my last set of slam balls yesterday. I was so out of breathe but trying to make it to 20 reps for my last set and at the end, almost thought I was going to pass out.

But…of course I didn’t and was ready for more the next morning at 6am. Glutton for punishment? Maybe. But definitely a glutton for the thrill.

QUESTION: Do you like the short term challenges of Crossfit?
If you do other sports, how do they keep you fulfilled?

I’ve been exploring for a little bit for any high quality articles
or weblog posts in this kind of area . Exploring in Yahoo I at last stumbled upon this site.

Studying this info So i’m satisfied to express that I’ve
an incredibly good uncanny feeling I discovered exactly what I needed.
I most indubitably will make certain to do not put out of
your mind this web site and give it a glance regularly.
